"TNAU - FPO Linkage (TFL) Programme"

Centre for Agricultural and Rural Development Studies (CARDS), Tamil Nadu Agricultural University - Coimbatore, and Agricultural College and Research Institute - Madurai, jointly organized a one-day "Workshop on Business Development Plan and FPO Promotion" for Paddy-based Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) on 23rd January, 2024, at Agricultural College and Research Institute, Madurai.


Centre for Agricultural and Rural Development Studies (CARDS), Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore, is closely working with 112 FPOs in various sectors, including Paddy processing FPOs.


Special recognition goes to TNAU faculties like Dr. M. Anjugam, Professor & Head, Dept. of Agrl. Economics, AC & RI, Madurai; Dr. R. Velusamy, Professor & Head, Dept. of Agrl. Extension & Rural Sociology, AC & RI, Madurai; & Dr. R. Balaji, Associate Professor (HRM), Dept. of Agrl. Economics and Other TNAU & KVK faculties have also been associated with the TNAU FPO Linkage (TFL Programme), and NABARD MABIF is pleased to be a part of it.


Key Highlights:


-23 Paddy-focused FPOs actively participated, showcasing their expertise in production, value addition, and marketing.

- The event drew over 100 participants, including FPO scientists from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University and technical experts spanning various disciplines.


Program Highlights:


1. Introductory Note:

  - Dr. D. Suresh Kumar, Director, CARDS, set the tone for the workshop with an insightful introductory note.


2. Empowering FPOs under TFL:

  - Dr. V. Geethalakshmi, Vice-Chancellor, TNAU shared valuable insights into empowering FPOs under TFL.


3. Expert Team Discussion with FPOs for Business Development Plan:

  - Interactive discussions led by an expert team engaged FPO representatives in crafting strategic business plans.


4. Concluding Remarks:

  - Concluding the event on a high note, remarks were shared by Dr. P.P. Mahendran, Dean, AC&RI, Madurai; Dr. K. Subramaniyan, Director, Tamil Nadu Rice Research Institute, Aduthurai; and Dr. S. Kanchana, Dean, CSC&RI Madurai.
